It was just like any other high school show, following those clichés this genre has to offer, but then again there is a reason these clichés were so widely followed because that’s what high school is all about and that’s what made it so funny. Lindsay Weir and her brother Sam Weir goes to high school. Lindsay and her friends form the freaks and Sam, and his friends constitute the geeks.

9. Twin Peaks

The show released in 1990 was a crime drama revolving around the death of the homecoming queen Laura Palmer, and how her death triggered a series of events in the town of Twin Peaks. The show had two seasons, the first season focused on finding the killer of Laura Palmer, which was ultimately revealed in the second season, and after which the show lost a bit of its popularity, but still it was pretty awesome nonetheless.

8. Homicide: Life On Street

Another crime and drama show, it ran from 1993-99. The show was critically acclaimed and covered the working of the Baltimore police department. It gave the viewers a glimpse into the life of a detective working with the homicide department and the immediate measures taken by the police when a murder takes place. It won many awards including the Critics’ Choice Award for the best crime thriller in 1996, 1997 and 1998.

Enough with the crime drama shows now. Boy Meets World is a classical show portraying the life of teenager Corey Mathews as he grows up from a 13-year-old to a 20-year-old. The show had everything you would want in a sitcom; it was funny, emotional and taught us about life.

The show needs no introduction, one of the best and the most popular sitcoms of the 90’s. The pilot was released in 1989, and the show ran till 1998. 4. Batman: The Animated Series

The only animated series on the list, but it was so good and intriguing that we couldn’t leave it off the list even if we wanted to. The series released in 1992 ran till 1995 and is arguably the best superhero show of all time. The show revolved around the city of Gotham and the vigilante batman doing everything to protect his city.

Another sitcom on the list, but what can we say, 90’s was the decade of the sitcoms. The show aired first in 1993 and the last episode aired in 2004. The show follows the life of Frasier Cane. He is a psychiatrist and comes to Seattle and starts to build his life from scratch and what unfolds next is brilliance. Funny and subtle, it was highly rated by the critics.

2. The X-Files

A science fiction show which aired from 1993 to 2002. It had many supernatural elements which fascinated the viewers. The show was centered on two detectives Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, who investigate and go through X-Files. These were unsolved and marginalized cases which had a certain paranormal phenomenon.

You all guessed it, didn’t you? F.R.I.E.N.D.S was undoubtedly the best show from the 90’s, and it set the bar so high that none of the shows that came after were able to match the awesomeness of friends. Set in New York, it revolves around six friends and their lives. It was funny, emotional and gripping.
