Plot
A judge was murdered, and the police department struggled to find the murderer. At the same time, a businessman, who is one of the best friends of the judge, receives a death threat, and one of his friends in the police department also gets murdered. Pon Manickavel, the Deputy Commissioner of police, takes charge to deal with the case. Was he successful in cracking this case? The rest of the film deals with this.
Star Performance
Prabhu Deva plays a cop for the first time. He is okay with his looks and performance. However, the audience expected something more from him. Nivetha Pethuraj is a template heroine, and the villain roles are also designed with the same old template.
Analysis
Pon Manickavel is a mixture of cop films, which the audience witnessed umpteen times. However, it is thrilling in certain places. If the writing had been better, the film would have impressed many audiences. Some characters are not penned in detail. It deals with the Metoo issue, and the audience expected some message or support, but the film does nothing for that. Some sequences seem to be forcibly inserted for commercial value, and one of those sequences is the hero and heroine’s love track. The BGM is good, and the visuals are decent.

Verdict
When the audience expected something interesting as it is the first cop film and the 50th film for Prabhu Deva, the film didn’t offer anything new. If you are a Prabhu Deva fan, you can watch it once!
