He-Man and the Masters of the Universe is an animated series which originated in the United States of America, a developed country. Mattel, Inc. They have also composed music for the series along with Erika Lane. Lou Scheimer is the creative director. Gwen Wetzler is the producer.

The inspiration of the cartoon is Mattel's toy line called Masters of the Universe. The makers have set the premise in a science fiction planet of the name Eternia. It is mystical and magical planet. King Randor and Queen Marlena are its rulers. They have a son whose name is Prince Adam. He also has a pet tiger called Cringer. One day, he finds the Sword of Power. Later, he discovers that if he holds the sword in one hand and and says 'By the Power of Grayskull' loudly, he will be blessed with supernatural powers which will enable him to become the strongest person alive .

He rechristened himself as the He-Man. Apart from him, his wild cat too gets powers. He is called Battle Cat. Both of them join hands with Man-At-Arms, The Sorceress, Orko, and Teela to protect Eternia and its residents from the evil Skeletor. He aims to capture the Castle Grayskull, a magical fortress, which is the place from where He-Man gets his strength. Queen Marlena is the caretaker of Grayskull. After that, he wishes to become a ruthless ruler of Eternia. Will He-Man succeed in his mission or will the evil Skeletor win? The program reveals this mystery as it progresses.

John Erwin and Alan Oppenheimer are the voice behind He-Man and Battle Cat. Besides them, Lou Scheimer, Linda Gary, George DiCenzo, Erika Scheimer gave the voice-over to several characters over the course of the series. It first premiered on the small screen in 1983 and ran for two seasons. It consists a total of one hundred and thirty episodes.

The audience saw the last chapter in the year 1985. Since then, there have been many shows that took the inspiration from it. It was the first series, which featured a cartoon character having a bulky figure and would fight with his enemies. Although many parents criticized it for promoting action, it is one of the most successful cartoon serials. The creators released it in several other languages owing to its popularity. One can also enjoy it by buying a DVD of the same name.
