English Cartoon Oggy And The Cockroaches

It is French based TV series which is more like an animation series. It broadcasted on ‘Cartoon Network’ in both English and Hindi at 9:00 pm., although it first aired on ‘Nickelodeon.’ It gained popularity quite early. It gave all the other animation serials a good competition as soon as it lwas aunched. It was first released in 1998 (France) and runs till date.

 It has four seasons accounting to two hundred sixty-nine episode segments. The fifth season is supposed to release soon in 2017 itself. It is directed by “Olivier Jean-Marie” and produced by “Xilam” and Gaumont Film Company.” Its characters involve a ‘Blue Cat named Oggy,’ and the three cockroaches; ‘Joey,’ ‘Dee Dee’ and ‘Marky.’ Oggy lives in his house, watching TV all day and spending his life leisurely. But the catch being, which the cockroaches did not like it like that. The trio finds it pleasing to irritate the helpless cat. The cat has a tough time dealing with the cockroaches whereas the three enjoy every time Oggy falls into trouble.

Also, there is ‘Olivia’ who happens to be Oggy’s crush and to whom he gets married in the last episode of the fourth season. It has a special place in minds and hearts of kids who love watching all the three of the roaches trouble Oggy.

The time it released in France, it became extremely famous and followed the launch of DVDs and Comics. After gaining popularity in France, it spread like fire all throughout the world marking its existence. It was initially a slow show on the channels in India, suddenly raging to be one of the most-watched animated shows. Since, it had the concept similar to ‘Tom and Jerry’, where one runs after the other it gained even more popularity amongst the kids. Kids laughed whenever the cockroaches would raid Oggy’s refrigerator or whenever, Oggy would run after all the three.

Small funny moments made not only kids but even the adults chuckle. From funny, chortling moments too along with a few emotional scenes, it had all in one emotion that could bind all the audience till the end of the show. It aired for a slot of half an hour with 20 to 22 minutes of the plot. In conclusion, this French-based animation, gained a mass audience, not only in France but throughout the world.
