House (season 4) first aired on September 25, 2007, and concluded on May 19, 2008. House had previously fired Chase. To tackle this problem, House announces a competition amidst forty applicants from different parts of the country. These applicants aspire to fill various vacant positions. In each episode that followed, House fired one of the applicants. In the end, the number reduced to a mere of seven participants. Around the end, Dr. Foreman decides to re-join the team post his bitter discharge from another organization. In the meantime, Amber's relationship with Wilson begins. The total number of episodes in this season was planned 24 but reduce to sixteen. Its original network of release was Fox. Originally, the plan of the series contained twenty-four episodes. However, the reduction took place as a product of the interruption caused by 2007-08 Writers Guild of America strike.

It became hard for the writers to give the finishing to the story which suddenly became eight episodes shorter. Season four saw the entry of seven new cast members. Out of these Jacobson, Penn, and Wilde became regulars. Beyond this, Andy Comeau played the role of Jeffrey Cole (a geneticist); Carmen Argenziano starred as Henry Dobson (former medical school’s admission officer). Anne Dudek played the role of Amber ''Cut-throat Bitch'' Volakis (a radiologist). Each of these last four left the show by the end of the series, except for Volakis. The first episode of this season ran by the name 'Alone’. House tries to diagnose Megan who survived a disaster. The second episode was 'The Right Stuff’. Greta suffers from a neurological disorder.
