The Shield is an American crime thriller that used to be aired on the channel, FX which is a satellite channel for general entertainment in America and is owned by 21st Century Fox. FX stands for “Fox Extended,” and the channel is a part of Fox Networks. The show, The Shield has 7 seasons in total. The show launched its first season in the year 2002. The seventh season of the show came to an end in November 2008. The second season of the show started in 2003. The first episode was aired on January 7, 2003, and the last episode was aired on April 1, 2003. The show had a total of 88 episodes during its tenure out of which the second season had a total of 13 episodes. Each episode was aired for 50 minutes to one hour. The Shield revolves around the story of an exploratory division of the Los Angeles Police Department based in Farmington.

This team includes a group of four detectives who use illegal and unethical methods to prosecute criminals. They are also referred to as the Strike Team. The team follows a series of unconventional methods to keep the streets from crime. Each of these members has their own complex personalities and struggles in life. Vic Mackey is a corrupt officer and the leader of this team is struggling to cope with a failing marriage. He has two children who are autistic, and his eldest daughter is rebellious. The other members of the team are Ronnie Gardocki who is the surveillance and electronics expert of the team, Shane Vendrell who has been married and is having a rocky start to it, and Curtis Lemansky who’s in his subconscious mind, constantly fears the safety of the Strike Team. The team constantly keeps covering up for their crimes as they constantly face pressure and questioning from their seniors. These cover-ups lead them to more adverse situations than before.

The characters use each other as leverages in situations. The show highlights the theme that two wrongs never make a right. In the second season, the focus is on a new brutal drug dealer who likes killing his enemies by setting them on fire by using a tire necklace and gasoline. The man is a sadist and a child rapist. He is on the edge of taking over the drug markets in Farmington. The season also continues with Strike Team’s plan to rob the American money Train which is actually a money-laundering operation by the American Mafia. The robbery is executed in the finale episode of the season. The show has put together an extremely efficient ensemble cast that blow life into these complex characters. The lead roles are played by Michael Chiklis, David Rees Snell, Walton Goggins, and Kenneth Johnson.
