won the Best Actor Award for doing the roles of Azaad, Abdul Khan and Kumar in the Bollywood film, Azaad in 1955. Hindi and Bengali actor, Abhi Bhattacharya
nailed the Best Supporting Actor Award after donning the role of Shekhar, a boarding school owner who teaches good values to the students in the film, Jagriti. The late Hindi actress, Nirupa Roy
won the Best Supporting Actress Award for her outstanding performance as Malti, a servant in the Bollywood movie, Munimji. The Best Music Award was presented to singer-composer, Hemanta Mukherjee for the song, ‘Jaye to Jaye Kahan’ that was used in the film, Nagin.
The Technical Awards for Best Sound goes to R. Kushik for the film, Amar. The Best Art Direction Award was presented to Rusi Banker for the film, Mirza Ghalib
; Best Cinematographer Award goes to Dwarka Divecha for the film, Yasmin and Best Editor Award was given to filmmaker, Hrishikesh Mukherjee
for the Bollywood film, Naukari. Urdu writer, Rajinder Singh Bedi received the Best Story Award for penning the Hindi drama film, Garam Coat.
