Indian Television Academy Awards 2008 had been held on 14 November. This year, the theme chosen blew everyone’s mind, who attended the event. The Theme had been Las Vegas. And by the sound of it, it had been made to look and feel the same. The opening act had been performed by Sharad Kelkar, the lead in the serial Saat Phere. This year featured a total number of eight musical performances, along with several dance performances. Every act was based in the light of this year’s theme. Rohit Roy and Jaswir performed an exceptional dance attributing it to Akshay Kumar. A musical spoof had been also performed that involved enactment of Mughal-e-Azam, but with a comical twist. The highlight of this year had been the performance which involved a lot of kids, who danced their way to fresh billboard hits.
The recent devastation of the terror strike that had taken place in Mumbai, while martyring a police personnel, was commemorated this year, and it marked the defining moment of the ceremony as everyone clenched their heart in sorrow. Under the General Jury Awards, Best Travel-based Show was awarded to My India Report, by Channel V. Best Cookery Show was presented to Secret Kitchen, by Bikramjit Ray and Sumit Sabharwal. Best Thriller or Horror Serial was awarded to Ajeeb. Best Lyricist was presented to Aatish Kapadia, for Baa Bahoo Aur Baby. Best Title Music or Song Track was awarded to Lalit Sen, for Balika Vadhu. Best Reality Show in Comedy was given to Comedy Circus 2 Costume special.
Best Serial in Drama was given to Balika Vadhu. Best Actor in Drama was awarded to Deven Bhojani, for Baa Bahu Aur Baby. Best Serial in Comedy was presented to The Week That Wasn't. Best Director in Comedy was presented to Samer Kulkarni, for Remote Control. Best Actor in a Supporting Role was awarded to Ali Asgar, for Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki. Best Historical or Mythological Serial was given to Jai Shri Krishna. Best Actress in a Negative Role was awarded to Surekha Sikri, for Balika Vadhu. Best Anchor in Talk or Chat Show was given to Vikram Chandra, for The Big Fight. Best Anchor in Game or Quiz Show was awarded to Shah Rukh Khan, for Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain. Best Anchor in Music & Film-based Show was presented to Ali Asgar, for Say Shaava Shaava.
Best Director Reality Show was presented to Ajit Ahuja and Arjun Menon, for Fear Factor Khatron Ke Khiladi, and Niret and Nikhil Alva, for Naya Roop Nayi Zindagi. Best Reality Show was awarded to Fear Factor, for Khatron Ke Khiladi. Best Anchor in News or Current Affairs Show was given to Rajdeep Sardesai, for Weekend Edition with Rajdeep Sardesai. Best Actress in Comedy was given to Supriya Pathak, for Remote Control, and Disha Vakani, for Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. Best Singer was given to Kavita Krishnamurthy, for Jai Maa Durga, and Sonu Nigam, for Amber Dhara. Best Director in Drama was awarded to Siddhartha Sen Gupta and Pradeep Yadav, for Balika Vadhu. Best Actress in Drama was presented to Avika Sameer Gaur, for Balika Vadhu. Best Actor in Comedy was awarded to Cyrus Broacha, for The Week That Wasn't. Best Actress in a Supporting Role was awarded to Sadia Siddique, for Balika Vadhu. Best Actor in a Negative Role was presented to Mukul Dev, for Kumkum Pyara Sa Bandhan. Best Child Artist was presented to Avika Sameer Gaur, for Balika Vadhu. Best Game or Quiz Show was awarded to Kya Aap Paanchvi Fail Champu Hain.

Best Children's Program was given to M.A.D. Best Lifestyle Show was presented to Making of the King Fisher Calendar, by NDTV. Under the Jury Technical Awards, Best Visual Effects was awarded to Amit Kalra, Abhishek Batra, and Gaurav Puri, for The Next Big Thing. Best TV Documentary was presented to Was that My Baby Crying, for Sutapa Deb. Best Telefilm was awarded to Ye Kaisa Bachpan, by Mriganshi Shukla and Abhishek.
