As the title indicates, Mard Bechara (oh! poor man), was a popular sitcom on TV channel Sahara One in the late 90s.It was a weekly serial which was broadcasted every Wednesday at 8.00 p.m. The central character or the poor guy of the serial was famous comic actor Raakesh Dubey and the fun filled script was written by Mr. Romesh Verma. The central theme of the show was to describe the condition of men who are flirtatious by habit and control it by will and this condition was depicted in a very humorous way in this serial. Raakesh Dubey plays such a man who has no control on his habit of flirting with any other beautiful women even though he was married. Due to his habits, he was constantly scolded by his wife, that always created a very laughable situation and not only his wife, all the women he flirted with also insulted him in the end which made him the only Bechara Mard in the show. Actually the character of Raakesh did not find his wife attractive and was always eager to find a woman to flirt with. The show was of great benefit in uplifting the viewership of Sahara channel as most of the other shows were routine dramas and this show provided a relief of humor to the viewers.
