MTV Roadies 5 began with a bang! The show took its concept to a new level by taking the series internationally. This season saw the contestants in show compete in India and then eventually move to Bangkok for some more competition before the final showdown. This season not only did the concept of the show escalate but also a total number of thirteen contestants were selected to appear on the show.

During the beginning of the show, all the twenty contestants were subjected to challenges and tasks in about six different cities across India. The kick-off was from Jaipur, Rajasthan. Eventually, like the custom of Roadies, one contestant left the show each week upon elimination through vote out. This year had brought a lot of new surprises and one of them was the Advantage Task. It was the first time that this concept was being introduced in Roadies. The idea behind this task was to give the best performer in it was given a privilege. This privilege was only subject to the voting round, which means that the power received can be exercised only during the vote outs.

Quite a political mind play arose when Shambhavi tried to sway Nehaal’s mind and entrapping him. But Nehaal through a reversal on her plot, and this created a huge ruckus in the show.

The tasks this season were also pretty different from previous seasons’. Some of them were explicitly themed on the culture of Bangkok, such as stripping, and much more. It was a very bold step to take an Indian television series to that extent, but that’s what made this season a hit.

The final two contestants of the show were Nihal and Ashutosh. As they were almost brothers to each other, the competition was quite healthy. Although at the end Ashutosh took the title, Nihal performed his best along with his teammates. The final task was one of its kinds. All the eliminated contestants were brought back on the show, and they had a very crucial and important role to play in the finale task. All of them were divided into two groups and the leaders of each were Nihal and Ashutosh. The task was that the leaders were supposed to persuade their team members to perform a bizarre task which was mentioned to them.
