Spectacular India is a series of documents that was aired on DD India in April 2013. It was created by Benoy. K Behl, an art film-maker/photographer, hosted the program. Spectacular India is exactly what its name suggests. It takes viewers on a tour of the less explored but beautiful parts of India, ranging from Kashmir, Arunachal, Himachal, Bengal and all the way to Tamil Nadu. Every episode featured a particular place wherein the show was shot. Its focuses on the religion of Buddhism and how it was prevalent in regions of Kashmir, Leh- Ladakh, Spiti, and Tibet.

An entire segment covered the trails of Guru Padmasambhava, who is believed to be the second Buddha. Monasteries, temples, holy stupas, and ancient sculptures put on display leave the audience in a trance. A particular section titled the ‘Legacy of Kashmir' does justice to it by showing frozen lakes, picturesque Himalayan landscapes, and the paradise that the place is known to be. The Monasteries of Rinchen Zangpo were portrayed with serenity, and the monks spoke about Tibetan way of life.

Certain clips show Behl interviewing the local people about their lifestyle, culture and their familial history with roots to the town. He also meets with experts who share their knowledge of the history and art related to the place. As the series progressed towards Bengal, Durga Puja was vastly discussed and so were typical Bengali singers. Trade, religion, flora-fauna and the folk culture were featured. While the setting was in Manipur, the ecstasy of dance was described by Celestial Manipuri dancers and the forgotten ritual dance of the Lamas.

In the state of Tamil Nadu, the show aimed to capture the ports, seas, and the uncountable temples. A large part also had Churches, Basilicas, and shrines. The quaint old towns of Mamallapuram and Kanchipuram were brought back to life. Towards the end of the 25 episodes, Karnataka temples were the last section.
