Karnataka State Film Awards is undoubtedly one of the most prestigious felicitation ceremonies in the Kannada Film Industry. Every year it comes forth and acknowledges the works put by the professionals of the industry, in the crafting of the movies produced that year. With 2009, the ceremony came out in the most luscious manner it can, with lots of celebrity performance, and acts, and also some special awards to felicitate the legendary people of the industry. The show entered into an intrinsic aura when Lakshmi Nataraj gave her blissful performance and stole the audience’s hearts instantly.

The Special Award was awarded to Sumana Kitthur, for the direction of the movie Kallara Santhe. The Best Dialogues was awarded to Godachi Maharudra, for the movie Banni. The Best Art was awarded to Venu Aptha, for the movie Rakshaka. The Best Children Film was awarded to Kinnara Bal, of Gurukula Sunil Puranik and PH Vishwanath. The SR Puttanna Kanagal Award was awarded to the director CV Shivashanker.
The Best Actor was awarded to late Dr. Vishnuvardhana, for the movie Aptha Rakshaka. The Best Camera was awarded to Kallara Santhe and Sundarnath Suvarana. The Best Child Female was awarded to Madhusri, for the movie Kinnara Bale. The Best Child Actor was awarded to Chiranjeevi, for the movie Kumari Madhusri and Eka Meva. The Best Music was awarded to V. Harikrishna, for the movie Raj the Showman. The Best Child Male was awarded to Chiranjeevi, for the movie Ekameva. The Best Film with Social Impact was awarded to Shabari, of Prof. Baraguru Ramachandrappa. The Dr. Rajakumar Award was awarded to the actor RN Sudarshan. The Best Audiographer was awarded to Kumar, for the movie Just Math Mathalli.
The Best Regional Cinema was awarded to Kajar. The first, second and third Best Films was awarded to Manasaare, of Yogaraj Bhat, Rasarishi Kuvempu, of Rithvik Simha, Love Guru, of Prashanth Raj. The Best Editor was awarded to Srinivas P Babu, for the movie Raj the Showman. The Best Supporting Actor was awarded to Dr. KS Aswhath Ninasam Ashwath, for the movie Banni.
