SuvarnaTV, the Kannada channel of the star network, came up with the first edition of Parivaar awards in the year 2012. The channel came to the screens in the year 2008. It has been successfully running and entertaining everyone since its establishment. After four years of success, the managers of the channel came up with an idea of facilitating the artists working for the channel and celebrating the four years of success by organising an award show. Inspired by an on-going award show on Star Plus, the Hindi entertainment channel of the star network, SuvarnaParivaar Awards were introduced.

The official sponsors of the Award function were “Sunfeast”, the biscuit manufacturing company. And, the name of the brand was even included in the logo of the awards ceremony. All the artists belonging to both, the fiction and non-fiction shows came all dressed up in their best attires to attend the event. The ceremony began with a traditional performance which was followed by the affiliation of artists working in the fiction and non-fiction shows broadcasted on the channel.

Just like Star Parivaar Awards, for the fiction programs, the actors in the ceremony were nominated and presented the awards under various categories such as favourite son, daughter, father, daughter-in-law, mother, child artist, etc. and the most deserving candidates were awarded. It also had a particular category for appreciating the actors performing the negative roles for both male and female.Favourite host, contestant, judge, show, etc. were the categories of awards for the non-fiction shows.

There were around 27 categories of awards that were presented by the fraternity. In addition to this, a separate segment of awards was introduced, namely the Audience Choice Awards, wherein the winners were decided by the votes of the fans, collected via SMSs. There were six categories in this segment- favourite actor, actress, serial, comedian, reality show and anchor. Between the presentations of the awards, some artists danced beautifully for the audience. Meenanath from PancharangiPomPom was named the best comedian that night, followed by Akul receiving the honour of favourite host. Amay from “Preethiyinda” and Amrutha from “Amrutharvarshini” took home the awards for best actor and actress with them. To sum up, around 33 awards were distributed that evening. Since then, this award ceremony became an annual event. The fourth edition of the same came out in 2016. It is such a celebrated event in the Kannada TV industry that both, the audience and the artists, wait for it.
