Classical Movie is a special television show that airs only movies from the 80s or 90s. These movies that have now become classics have huge fan followings and thus these movies when airs on television, gather high ratings. This concept was started by Doordarshan in the late 90s when the channel started getting many requests to air popular hit movies from 80s and thus the producers of the channel launched a special segment on the channel and assigned a day to it on which the channel premiered old films for its fans. This concept soon became a sort of trend and when more and more channels started coming in the television industry, every channel picked up this trend of assigning a particular slot to old classics movies. ‘Classical Movies’ is one such segment on the channel that airs popular old Kannada classic films. The show airs on the channel Udaya TV.Â
