Asianet Film Awards 2000 Malayalam tv-shows on Asianet TV

The leading Malayalam Television Channel, Asianet Network has set to give the Asianet Film Awards for the excellent acting and technical works in the field of Malayalam Cinema for the third consecutive time. New categories have been brought in the previous year, and it has been officially notified that those are set to continue this year too. The Excellent film chosen this time amidst tight competition was Narasimham, and it has been tagged as this Year's Best Film Award. The film has been produced by Antony Perumbavoor, who also came up with the blockbuster Drishyam in the year 2013.

The film was at the limelight when its Director Shaji Kailas picked up the advantage against the other contenders in the group 'The Best Director of the Year'. The legend, Mammootty grabbed the reward for his distinct acting in the film 'Arayannagalude Veedu' conferring him the Award for the Best Male Actor for this Year. There has been an interesting turn in the category for the award of the Best Female Actor of this Year in this season. It is being noted that Samyuktha was the recipient of the Best Female New Face of the Malayalam Cinema in the last year's edition of the Asianet Awards.

Biju Menon has received the award for the second consecutive time in the journal 'The Best Supporting Actor- Male' for his assistance to the heroes of the films Cover Story and Millennium Stars. K. P. A. C. Lalitha collected the Award for the first time for her supporting acting as 'The Best Supporting Actor-Female'. There were no nominations this time in the fields Best Cinematographer of the Year, Best Music Director of the Year, Best Editor of the Year, Best Lyricist of the Year and Best Script Writer of the Year. Veteran singer K.J.Yesudas grabbed the Award for this Year's Best Male Playback Singer.

K.S.Chitra placed her hand on 'The Best Playback Singer of the year-Female' Award for the second consecutive time but this time for her film Mazha. The lifetime achievement award for this year has been conferred on K. Raghavan. The Panel has decided to confer this award with the famous Music Director, who has scored in many films. Lack of nominations for some of the categories in this year proved to be disappointing but still it is a perfect one.
