The Malayala Manorama Group’s offspring Vanitha, a magazine dedicated to bringing up the news relating to the Malayali Cinema World had to decide to present the honours for the Technical as well as artistic achievements in the Mollywood Arena. It was named as the Vanitha Film Awards and has conferred from the year 1998. It was one of the most awaited ceremonies in the State of Kerala. The Telecasting rights for the program had given to Mazhavil Manorama. T. T. Krishnamachari’s company T. T. K. Prestige was the Title Sponsors for the event.
Vijay Yesudas and Vaikom Vijayalakshmi enlightened the drama with their melodious voices. It has later followed by the high energetic dance performance from Lena as well as Rima Kallingal. The Same movie gave Biji Bal, the prize for the Best Music Director of the Year. The Youth Celebrity Award has conferred on Dhanush. Baburaj placed his hands on the award for the Best Comedian of the Year. The Best Lyricist Award had a tough call. However, O. N. V. Kurup was finally selected. Jomon T Johan was the Cameraman of the Year for the film Beautiful.
The New Best face of the year in the Male Category and the Female segment went to Unni Mukundan and Karthiga respectively. The Best Playback Singer Award for Male went to Vijay Yesudas for the song EE Puzhayum Sandhya Kalum in Indian Rupee. The Best Female Playback Singer Award went to Manjari for the score Chimmi Chimmi in the movie Urumi.
The Supporting Actor, as well as Actress for this year, was Anoop Menon in Beautiful and Remya Nambeesan for Chappa Kurisu. The Best screen Pair were Lal and Swetha Menon. Vijayaragahavan for Venicile Vyapari was the Best Villain of the Year. Thus, a nutshell, many known faces went home with gifts and pulsating performances that kept the momentum.
