She has taught many batches for a long span of time and has a big hand in the progress of the villagers. As a teacher, she has gained respect in the hearts of the people. She is a mother of five children, and so she has to switch duties as a teacher and as a mother. She and her family were referred to as “Kunjiyamma and her sons” by the villagers as they had learned the lyrics of the jingle “ Five children had Kunjiyamma” from her.

The children were similar to the five Pandavas of the Mahabharata who seemed ditto of the original. People were jealous of her because they thought that her five sons would be like her backbone during her old-age. They would support her, stay with her all their life and take care of her. But they didn’t know the other side of the story. She believed that her sons were more of a burden and would never provide her assistance during her advancing years. To find out a solution to her son’s irresponsible behaviors, Saraswathy seeks help from her Mumbai settled niece. The young and attractive Aruna stirs emotions in the minds of the five men and disturbs the male dominated balance that would not easily get upset. As she was close and easily accessible, it arouses feelings for her in all five of them. Aruna tackled this with skill and instilled some thoughts of marriage in her cousins. But later she realized that they were madly in love with her. She dealt with it very precisely and found out five eligible brides for each one of them who were maids of the village.
