Neermathalam is a horror drama show. It was aired on the 1st of May 2017 on Asianet TV. It was released on OTT platforms like Disney+ Hotstar. The main character of the show is Gowri. The plot of the show is that Srirangam Srinivasa Iyer suffers from a heart attack while attending a dinner party.  In the party, Vilasini,  the host's maid, gives drugs to Gowri and attempts to kill her. Shiva buries her corpse within the house premises. Ages later, Unnithan's cousin occupies the same house, where Gowri's spirit is haunting the place. Bhagya and Aravind panic as Sree Kutti goes missing.  This raises suspense- will they find her before Gowri's spirit tries to harm them?

Nagappan, the tantric spots Gowri's spirit. Later, he assaults workers who cleaned the house and warns Aravind not to marry Anupama. Anand decides to marry Anupama despite the warning. Now the big question is that, will Anupama agree to marry Anand? Anand instructs Anupama to be prepared to face impediments in their marriage.  The tantric acknowledges Anupama's father about the threats of marrying his daughter to Anand. Thirumeni tells the family members to get Anand married to a tree, to prevent the bad prediction. He also asks them to bury pots. While Ima attempts to capture the image of a plantain plant, she spots Gowri's spirit. Now the question is, will the spirit harm them?

Rajeshwari implores Aravind to persuade Anand for the Vaazha Kalyanam. After taking charge of the town as SI, Anand spots Ima and Harshan. Aravind and Ima struggle to persuade Anand for the Vaazha Kalyanam. Will he agree to marry a plantain tree? Subramanyan Potti and Anand's mother go to Aravind's compound to stabilize a vazha for the ritual. But, Thirumeni smells a horrible odor near his house. Have they provoked Gowri's spirit? Anand spots Nagappan at Chandrakantham and assesses him.  His family makes arrangements for the Vaazha Kalyanam. However, Anand changes his mind in the last moment and refuses to marry the plant!

Forcefully, after Anand marries the tree, Gowri's spirit attacks Anupama. Nagappan listens to this Panikarand directs to cut the plant. Nagappan attacks Aravind when he tries to cut the plantain plant. Are they inviting trouble? Aravind gets admitted to the hospital after the snake bite. Rajeshwari is shocked to learn about his condition! What measures will she take now? Panikar wraps an amulet on Anupama's arm. However, Mahadevan calls off Anupama's wedding with Anand. Rajeshwari asks Anand to sleep in her room. An infuriated Gowri's spirit thrusts Rajeshwari down the stairs. Ima confronted Nagappan, the tantric, as he denies to chop off the plantain plant. Gowri's spirit embraces Ima after she cuts the plantain plant!
