Idhayam was a famous serial which was telecasted on the Sun TV channel and was a project of Sathya Jyothi Films. It had around 627 episodes. Idhayam was initially aired during prime time in the evenings, but due to unavoidable reasons, it was finally moved to 10 pm on every Monday to Friday. The key actors of this serial were Seetha, Sanjeev, Nithyadas, Manohar, Nalini, Chitra Lakshmanan, Devadarshini, Sathyapriyaa, Neelima, Varsha and Rajendran. The entire serial was written by Selvaraj with dialogues by Asokan. It was directed by Nithyanandam. Everyday 20 minutes of the serial managed to fly by so easily as the serial had a crisp storyline that moved so fast that it left the viewers thinking about what would happen next.

The plot of the story was about Nandini, a young woman, who was very hesitant in joining her husband, Sankar and living with his joint family. The reason for her not accepting to live with Sankar was that she had a bitter experience in her life before marriage. The role of Dr.Sai Kalyani, which was played by Seetha, fights for restoring the normalcy in her life. During this time, Valmiki, who was a lawyer gave lot of problems to Nandini and the entirefamily. Prasad who also troubled Nandini’s life was somehow murdered. The story revolved around how Nandini and Dr.Sai Kalyani solved this problem and united with their family.
