Iniya Iru Malargal is a Tamil serial that revolves around a middle-class Punjabi girl and her family. This serial is Tamil dubbed version of a Hindi serial called ‘kumkumbhaya’. This series is about a Punjabi woman Sarla who runs a marriage hall and her two daughters Pragya and Bulbul, who wishes the best of her daughters and wish to see them happily married. Pragya is a middle-class girl who has barely completed her own studies but now works as a professor is a college she has a lot of responsibilities of her family. She is a simple girl with a simple life.

Whereas her sister is just her opposite, she has a lot of dreams for her life. This story also revolves around a middle-class man and Pragya’s neighbour Suresh who also happens to work in Pragya’s college. Suresh secretly is in love with Pragya’s sister but her family thinks that Suresh likes Pragya, so their families arrange their wedding and Suresh has no idea about all this. Simultaneously there is also another story that revolves around a young superstar Abhishek Prem Mehra. He is portrayed as a strong and sensational singer, who has a very lavish lifestyle and a huge fan following. His parents died while he was really young and so he was grown up by grandmother and also he has a sister whom he loves a lot.

The sister’s name is Aliya; Abhi has given her so much love that she has grown to be a spoilt brat. She is so spoilt that she considers herself the best. The story also involves a model and Aliya’s friend Tanu who also happens to be Abhi, the rock star’s girlfriend. Also one of the main characters is Purab who is Abhi’s childhood friend. Abhi’s sister Aliya is in love with him and dreams of marrying him. How the story takes a new turn when simple Pragya’s and Rockstar Abhi’s fate ties them together. How the life of Pragya changes after she is married to Abhi and how she gets out of the troubles that are created by Aliya.
