Mouna Raagam Tamil is a daily TV soap. This family TV drama has in its lead a child whose name is Sakthi. The story of this serial revolves around this child. Although this TV show had been first made by the Star Maa TV Channel which called it Koilamma. Later, Asianet TV channel remade this TV show naming it Vanamadi. It was the third time when this TV show was being remade again.

The seven-year-old Sakthi is born with a talent. She is able to sing any tune, any musical rhythm, and find music from any sort of noise. She has the ability to learn any kind of music. But her life takes difficult turns. Her father has left her mother, and she has to listen to a lot of remarks and face pointed questions from people.

One day her mother tells her that her father is alive and, he is a well-established and a popular singer. Soon Sakthi’s mother leaves the world and, the baby girl decides to fulfill the dream her mother saw her. The channel aired Mouna Raagam Tamil on the 24th of April. Also, a one minute song made for the show was telecasted on 16th April by the TV channel on its Youtube channel. It is a story of a cute little girl, who can sing well. After her mother's death, she went in search of her father, who is also a famous singer.

In the Tamil version, the soap opera stars Baby Krithika, Chippy Renjith, Rajeev, and Shamitha. In this TV serial,  Malayalam actors Chippy, Rajeev, and Seema, who appear in the lead roles, they made their Tamil-language debuts with this series. The show is telecast on Star Vijay every Monday to Friday at 7.30 pm.

The show has a beautiful plot. Baby Krithika as Shakthi / Shakthi Velan, plays the role of the protagonist. It is really interesting to watch on TV screen how a 7-year-old girl, who is the daughter of a separated couple takes her journey to meet her father. Mouna Raagam is a 2017 Indian Tamil language musical family soap opera serial, which was premiered on 24 April 2017, and is broadcasted on Star Vijay and Hotstar. The serial is produced by actress Chippy Renjith and also features an ensemble cast, comprising of Baby Sherin, Baby Krithika, Rajeev Parameshwar, and Shamitha Shreekumar. It recently completed its 800th episode, which was aired on February 28, 2020. It is presently directed by ManojKumar.

This serial is essentially a remake of the Bengali language television series Potol Kumar Gaanwala which started airing on Star Jalsha in 2015. Mallika, while studying in college, falls in love with Karthik Krishna, an upcoming singer. After marrying, Karthik leaves a gravid Mallika alone to pursue a career in Chennai. While in Chennai, Karthick is forced to marry Kadhambari, the daughter of a rich music company owner, Viswanathan. Mallika, meanwhile, gives birth to a baby girl, Shakthi. Mallika and Karthik Krishna's daughter, who is born out of wedlock, is a natural-born singer. She is cute, naughty, and a prodigiously talented girl. She is raised solely by her mother. Music is Shakthi's life, but despite her passion for singing, Mallika, prevents her from pursuing singing, because her father left them for his music career. After her mother dies, Swarna exploits Shakthi's singing talent for her own selfish benefits. However, her uncle takes a stern decision regarding Shakthi.

Shakthi reaches Chennai, disguised as a boy, with hopes of finding her biological father. She is eventually adopted by Karthik Krishna's childless elder brother, Murali Krishna, and his wife Nandini, who manages to discover Shakthi's lineage, thereby assisting her in her attempts to reconcile with her father.

This serial enables us to join Shakthi in her musical venture, and see what struggles she goes through to find her real identity. Indeed, it is an engaging story and has successfully built a nice fan base among the Tamil television audience, repeating the same success its Bengali precursor had in Bengal.

Then, in Chennai itself, Karthik is forced to marry Kadhambari who is the daughter of a music company owner named Viswanathan. Meanwhile, both gave birth to their daughters named Shakthi and Shruthi. Shakthi is Mallika’s daughter and Shruthi is  Kadhambhari’s daughter.
