Bommi and Friends revolves around a 5-years old girl, Bommi and her five friends. The show has various small stories of Bommi and her friends with a moral attached to it at the end of the show, helping the children learn a new life skill. Bommi took shape about seven years ago in a studio near Valluvar Kottam. Bommi has a bunch of eccentric friends who lived in a fantasy book named Libro. The five friends were - Boris, an elephant from the U.K.; Remba, a giraffe from Africa; Taco, a monkey all the way from the United States; Maya, a crow from Spain and Yip, a dog from France. All these characters showed some unique shades, which were opposite to the stereotypes. Jeeva Raghunath, a storyteller, was one of the creators of the show. K.R Senthil Kumar developed the Show along with Mathiseelan.

The makers of the show were very happy that Bommi has finally returned to the country where she belongs. Around 150 people came together to create the character of Bommi in the Chennai Studio. The fact that 30% of the work was done in the U.S helped in finalizing the character. Bommi and Friends used to be special due to its unique content. It was the first high-definition children's animated cartoon in India, which was made for a global audience. The show Bommi and Friends became popular all over the world and the audience of all age groups loved the show.

In 2015, children in South-India finally got a chance to see Bommi and Friends, a 13 episode series telecasted on Chutti TV in the Tamil language. Chutti TV is a part of Sun Network's kids' Channel in Tamil. Chutti TV is an all day and all night Tamil television channel for children. This channel premiered on 30th April 2007. The timings of the show Bommi and Friends was 11 am and 7:30 pm every day. The show Bommi and Friends aired initially in Europe, Australia, some parts of Asia, Africa and more than 80 countries in 15 different dialects. Now, it is telecasted in many other places such as Solomon Islands, India, Samoa, Fiji, etc. The Indian audience has given so much love to the show, that the makers are prompted to create more episodes.
