Zee Tamizh's “Dance Tamizha Dance” featured a variety of Indian and international dance styles such as classical, hip-hop, Kollywood, Bollywood, Jazz, Salsa, Kalaripayattu and Russian styles by participants who were below 14 years of age. It was a dance talent hunt to identify the best dancer of Tamil Nadu which could even pave the way for the well determined dancer to become a professional film choreographer. After auditions held at various cities, 16 contestants were shortlisted and were mentored by film choreographers namely Anto, Johny, Poppy, and Mahi. The contestants had to perform live on stage various styles of dances in various rounds and their performances were judged by actress Simran and Bollywood choreographer Chinni Prakash Master.

Poppy and Mahi performed some dance steps of their choices and even actress Simran too wooed the audiences with her sizzling dance numbers. The four finalists competed in two rounds and the Dance Tamizah Dance title was won by Santhosh who received a cash prize of Rs 6 Lakhs and Black, Adhitya and Priyam won the first, second and third runner-up titles accordingly. Black, Adhitya and Priyam won a cash prize of Rs 2 Lakhs, Rs 1 Lakh and Rs 50,000. The prize was handed over to contestants by Prabhu Deva. The best mentor award was won by dance choreographer Johny Master and he received a cash prize of Rs 50,000 .

Dance Tamizha Dance (Season 1) is a Tamil dance reality show that aired on the prime-time regional channel Zee Tamil, by Zee Network. The show aired on weekends (Saturday to Sunday) at 8:00 p.m. The show was first telecasted in the year 2013. It is a show where talented young dancers from all around the country participate and showcases their talent as a dancer, in order to win the trophy and title of the “Dancing Star” of Tamil Nadu. These are Tamilian dancers hailing from different parts of the country.

The show is one of the most popular television series amongst the Tamil audience. The concept of the show is such that the initial screening of the contestants in done through auditions that are held in various cities. These shortlisted participants are brought together and then they are trained in multiple dance forms by ace film choreographers, namely Mahi Master, Anto Master, Johny Master and Poppy Master. After this the participants go through a mega audition, which is the final round of screening.

After this, 16 contestants make it to the main competition which is held in a studio with a stage setup and in front of the camera. The contestants perform different dance styles with different props on different themes in front of the judges, who then share their valuable feedback and scores on their performance. Then, through a series of such episodes and fierce competition, four finalists move to the grand finale where one of them is crowned the Dancing star of Tamil Nadu. The season showcased an array of world class dance forms and styles and had ace choreographers to mentor the participants and teach them these forms.

Dance forms like Hip-hop, Jazz, Contemporary, Street, Kollywood, Salsa, Kalaripayattu, Ballroom Dance styles were shown during the show. The Season 1 of the show was judged by the popular Tamil actress Simran and Chinni Prakash Master. The four finalist of this season were Priyam, Adhithya, Santosh and Black.

After the public voting, Santosh emerged as the winner and took home a cash prize of 5 lac rupees. The first runner-up was Black, who won a cash prize of 2 lac rupees. Second runner-up Adhithya won 1 lakh rupees and third runner-up Pritam took home a cash prize of 50 thousand rupees. The best mentor award was won by choreographer Johny Master, who also won a cash prize of 50 thousand rupees. The grand finale of the show was telecasted on 10th January 2014 in the Lady Andal School Auditorium in front of a live audience. The prizes were given by the special guest of the night, also known as the Michael Jackson of India, Prabhu Deva. He also enthralled the audience by his scintillating dance moves. The show, during its course, saw a lot of other celebrity guests like Sneha, Bharath, Simbu, Karthi, Vijay Sethupathi, Varalakshmi Sarathkumar, etc. The show was hosted by Aarthi and Anandi.
