Nama Sankeerthanam is a Religious Musical show that is aired on DD Podhigai, which is Doordarshan’s Tamil regional channel. “Nama Sankeerthanam,” as the name suggests, is the repetition of the name of the Almighty picked up by devotee that is chanted in a musical form. The devotees come together to form a group and chant the name collectively while playing several musical instruments as well. Namasankeerthanam can be defined as a “Bhajan”.
Sri. Kumbakonam Ananthanarayana Bhagavathar, a renowned religious singer of Namasankeerthanam, along with his team of musicians and supporting singers are featured in this show. Sri. Kumbakonam Ananthanarayana Bhagavathar learned singing from his father. He has been performing across many sabhas and TV channels in India. His soothing voice is the highlight of this show. He and his team come together and perform the musical chanting of the name of the Almighty in this show. They choose the name from the Ishta Deva, which is a term denoting a worshipper’s favorite deity within Hinduism and chant that name continuously. The show is full of melodies chanting and takes the viewers on a spiritual journey.
