Raghu Vamsam is a Telugu show airing on Gemini TV at 6 am every day. It imparts upon it’s viewers the teachings of the Bhagvad Gita in Telugu. It has been seen to contain many of the principles as stated in the Holy book and explains the same to all those watching. It can be considered to be a largely religious show. It is mostly meant for those devotionally inclined. The title when translated means, “ the clan for the devotion of the Lord ’’. The content of the show, as mentioned earlier, is mostly taken from the Bhagvad Gita. The objective can be said to educate the masses about the many guidelines as stated in the book. It should not, however, be confused with the poem of the same name written by Kalidasa that follows the story of a king.
One of the many aspects of the show includes the singing of hymns for Lord Ayappa. The series was started by a noted Producer, K. Balachandran, who has been behind many Telugu and Tamil serials. This show was labelled as a ‘mega serial’ by him and was the first of its kind. He showed that such shows could also bestow a meaning upon those who are watching. He aimed to make these shows, such that they were watched even by younger people and admired. He has also dappled in serials of social and political importance. This program contains all the elements of a religious show and is a must-watch for those who are fond of the devotional genre.
