Nickelodeon is an American cartoon cable channel for children. The channel was launched on 1st December 1997 and focused on children between the ages 8 and 17. And, the weekday morning shows with educational entertainment programs for the children aged 2 to 7. Ren & Stimpy, an American animated television series created by John Kricfalusi. The show is based on the journey of Stimpy, a humble but silly cat and Ren, an over-emotional Chihuahua. The Show - Ren & Stimpy, premiered on the American Television on 11th August 1991 along with two of the most renowned shows on Nick Channel, ‘’Doug’’ and ‘’Rugrats’’. Ren & Stimpy went on for 5 seasons with 52 episodes.

The first two seasons were produced by Kricfalusi's animation studio Spümco. Nickelodeon's Games Animation took over the production from the beginning of Season three. Ren is a short-tempered Chihuahua whereas, Stimpy is a happy-go-lucky cat. Each episode depicts a new story with the duo playing different roles like old west horse thieves, outer-space explorers, nature-show hosts. They are usually in disagreement with each other in all the episodes. The pilot episode was eight minutes long, showing the duo being caught by a dog catcher and sent to a pound. In the pound, they meet Jasper and also, Phil who is put to sleep by the dog catcher.

The episodes revolves round the time spent in the pound by the duo until they get adopted by a little girl. In the first episode, Stimpy the cat wins Gritty Kitty poem contest and goes to Hollywood, leaving Ren alone. Stimpy enjoys his life in Hollywood but the duo begin to miss each other. The Show had to face various problems with regards to approvals during its telecast. The episode "Man's Best Friend" was banned by the channel as it displayed Ren beating a character George Liquor with an oar. After which, the show was asked to be less frightening and more appropriate for children. This children’s entertainment is funny and, portrays friendship.
