C.I.D. or Crime Investigation Department is an Indian crime fiction series written and directed by B. P. Singh under the Fireworks Production. The show was broadcasted on Sony Entertainment Television India and Sony entertainment Television Asia from January 21, 1988 up to the present. It was dubbed in Telugu and aired on MAA TV. It was also dubbed in Tamil and aired on Zee Tamil. The Bengali version was called as C.I.D. Kolkata Bureau aired on Sony Aath. The Pakistan version was aired on Apna Channel and also in Geo Kahani.
This serial is considered as one of the longest running show in India. ACP Pradyuman (played by
Shivaji Satam
), Inspector Daya (played by
Dayanand Shetty
) and Senior Inspector Abhijit (played by
Aditya Srivastava
) are the leads who work in CID. They asked for the assistance of Dr. Salunkhe, a Forensic Expert along with the whole CID team to investigate and unravel high-profile cases.
The creator and director of this series came up with the C.I.D. concept when he was just a Doordarshan’s cameraman. Shivaji Satam, a veteran in the Marathi Theatre worked with B. P. Singh on several projects prior to C.I.D., while Dayanand was discovered by
Sanjay Shetty
from the C.I.D. production team. Aditya was first appeared as a criminal in the show and eventually become part of the C.I.D. team.
The show is an investigative series comprising with criminal cases that are being resolved by the trio together with the C.I.D. team. It is a suspense and thriller drama series that runs on two decades. The C.I.D. trio is very passionate on their job and doesn’t mind if their life is being at stake.
