Gayathri is a Tamil mega serial getting aired in Zee Tamil channel from Monday to Friday by 10 PM. The lead role is donned by Nima who's got her reputation from the successful serials KarthigaiPengal and Thenilavu. The serial is premiered on 20th of January 2014.

The story revolves around the life of Gayathri who gets antagonized by her step mother Rajeswari. She gets Gayathri imprisoned by giving her a false hope that her mother can live with her father if she goes to jail for the crime committed by Pooja, who's Rajeswari daughter. But on the contrary, Gayathri gets betrayed. She finds that her mother is dead despite of her strained attempts and understands the real nature of her step mother. Gayathri falls in love with the lawyer Venkat which infuriates Rajeswari. She tries to get Venkat married to her daughter Pooja. She kidnaps Gayathri a day before the marriage. Whether Gayathri manages to escape and marry Venkat is what forms the rest of the story.

The cast of the serial includes Neema in the role of Gayathri, Varalakshmi in the role of Rajeswari, Akhila in the role of Pooja, Ramachandran as Gayathri's father, AnuradhaKrishnamoorthy as Gayathri's mother along with others like Venu, Kaveri, Malar and Murthi. The title song is penned by Dr.Hiruthiya and is sung by Ramu. Selvam has scored the music for the song while Kiran has done the background score. The series is directed by A.P.Rajendhiran.
