Music café is an Indian Tamil language music reality show. A music reality show is a genre of television shows in which various popular musicians, vocalists, and other artists from music backgrounds are invited to perform their most popular songs live with some new additions. The idea for these types of shows began in the West with many channels producing these shows because they had become popular among youngsters as they had the vibe of a live show. In India too these shows are quite popular. One of the more popular examples of music reality shows is Coke Studio. Music café follows the same template but with musicians of the Tamil music industry. The show invites various popular artists from the Tamil music industry to perform their best songs on the demand of the audience. These musicians play their favorite songs but they do it in a new style to attract viewers.

Jaya TV is a satellite television channel that was launched in 1999 and has since become a major Tamil language channel with numerous entertaining shows.
