The serial went ahead to become one of the top serials of Pakistan.

The serial tells the story of a devout Muslim girl named Qurratulain, fondly called Annie. She is a stout believer in her religion and is often seen to be wearing a Hijaab to cover her head following her faith. This often leads her to face criticism from her family and several friends who are basically free-spirited liberal thinkers. Her stout beliefs and obsession with being a dutiful Muslim leads them to often get annoyed with her out-dated outlook on life.

Gradually with time, she falls for her first-cousin Hashim. However, although he is fond of Annie he resents her religious approach in life and hence sends a wedding present to Annie’s sister Kashaf even though their families believed that Annie is more compatible with him. Kashaf outright refuses to marry him which leads him to getting heartbroken. He decides to leave for England where he pursues his higher studies. He befriends a young man named Rohaan who has a fun-loving and free-spirited personality but he too believes in his religion and is devoted to his faith. Rohaan’s presence in life brings several changes in Hashim and he slowly begins to regain his faith and look at things with a new and different approach. How their story takes a turn from here constitutes the rest of the episodes.
