The series starts with Irshaad as the main character. Irshaad is married to Akram. She is from a minority community of Christians in Pakistan. She is a Punjabi Christian. She is not educated and lives in her in-law’s home. Irshad works as a maid to earn her livelihood. She is a cheerful and bubbly person. She finds happiness in every sorrow. She loves singing and dancing and is a fun-loving woman. She is the only working person in her family. Her in-laws are dependent on her financially. Her husband, Akram, does not work. He does not want to earn by doing meager jobs. He wants to own a business and is looking for ways to arrange capital. Even if he gets a job, he does not do it for long.

Akram does not shy away from constantly asking for money from his wife for his business. However, Irshad can never keep aside money for him as she uses it for important things like her in-laws and children. She works as a house helper in an army man’s home. The army man is a strict person. He does not like Irshad as she talks too much while not doing much work. However, the other members of the house find her caring and love her. They even offer her extra money as a tip.

Irshad is the only breadwinner of her family. Consequently, she is seen as the man of the house. She has the responsibility of her whole household on her shoulders. Her brother-in-law, Usman, is a young man but does not work yet. Irshaad happily takes charge of her house. Irshad does not let her chirpy personality die although she has massive responsibility and fulfills them without any complaints. She does everything until Akram tries to marry a second time. She feels used and disrespected. She decides not to take responsibility for the house anymore to take her stand. Life throws many challenges at her, but she tackles them in her own quirky ways.
