Rupak Gogoi was born on the 12th of October, 1970, Rupak Gogoi is a Director from Assam. He is the son of legendary Assamese Director Pulak Gogoi. He received his post-graduation degree in Communications from Pune University in 1996. He has worked in the industry for an extended period, starting with television shows as a producer for promos, vignettes, and shows. After working in television for many years in companies like PRAG News Guwahati, Focus Hifi Guwahati and, RENGONI TV (GEC), he moved on to make his first movie.

In 2017, He released Gangs of North East, which screened at the Guwahati International Film Festival and later at the Arunachal Film Festival. He was awarded the Best Director ( North East category) for Gangs of North East in 2018 at the prag Cine Awards. Gangs of North East is the first movie to bring artists and technicians from all seven states of the North East together. In 2021, he directed You Are My Malala, a movie about human rights causes. He also is credited for his role in the Relor Alir Dubori Bon (1993), directed by his father, Pulak Gogoi. He received the Best Director for You Are My Malala at the Eurasia International Monthly Film Festival in 2022.
