. His acting career in theatre began with the Bohurupee theatre group. He later joined another theatre group called Nandikar, where he acted in several plays directed by Mr. Ajitesh Bandhopadhyay. He left Nandikar in 1966 to form a Theatre Workshop. He has also worked on a few films. Chhera Tamsuk (1974) and Aamaar Bhuvan (2002) are some of them. He is the receiver of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award.
