Each traditional Maegan school, which is essentially going extinct, is examined in the movie. In the quest for a subject, director Mandal, who lives in the suburbs and has made documentaries and feature films for decades, had the idea for this documentary while traveling throughout West Bengal. His movies have so far taken home five other short film and documentary honors, including four international, two national, and four more.
