Madhu Bose is a film director, actor, Singer, Screenwriter in the earlier 1930s to ‘60s. He was born on 12th February 1900 at Calcutta. His parents are Kamala Dutt Bose and Pramath Nath Bose. His father played a major part of establishing the first soap factory in Calcutta. He received his education at Balok Bidyalay in Bolpur after some time in Shanthinikethan. His songwriting and acting skills was inspired by the great poet Rabindranath Tagore. He made him as a part of his play Valmiki-Prathiba where he was the creator of the skit. He later completed his studies at Vidyasagar College, Calcutta. His life was filled with struggles to achieve success. He started his career in the film industry by working at small jobs in short films. His talentfor acting came into the screen under Sisir Bhaduri.

Later he met Himanshu Rai, one of the famous cinematographer and pioneers of Indian cinema. He was working with him as an assistant when he was with German Franz Austen, where later he joined as an intern for marketing his script books and stories. Later, Bose's hard work recognized him and took him to Emelka studios in Munich, Where he learned the art of direction and how to use the cameras. He worked with Alfred Hitchcock and thus directed a Hitchcock film with him. It bought him the fame as the first filmmaker with Hollywood. He married actress, Sadhana Bose. His famous works are Dhalia(1930),Alibaba(1937),Raj Narthaki(1941),Kumkum the Dancer,Michael Madhusudhan(1950), Vidhan Urvashi, Bireshwar Vivekananda, etc.... He was one among the pioneers of parallel cinema in India.

Alibaba was the film were Bose was reputed worldwide. Satyajit Ray, a author who is celebrated for his near-perfect adaptation of Tagore’s literature. But Madhu Bose had already paved the pathway with his onscreen rendition of Gurudev’s short stories. He was one of the famous Bengali director in the 19th century. Uphall Dutt is the director credits his success in the movie Michael Modhusudhan. He played the role of Michael Modhusudhan Dutt as there is no one to overcome his successful career in the Film Industry. He passed away on the 3rd of October 1969. His remarkable journey in the Indian film Industry is marked as history in the Indian film Industry.
