Andrew Sachs(born name: Andreas Siegfried Sachs) was a British actor, voice-over artist and writer. He was born on 7th April 1930 in Berlin, Germany. He got married to Melody Lang in 1960, who was also an actress, writer and fashion designer. While studying shipping management in the 1950s, Andrew started working in radio productions; “Private Dreams and Public Nightmares” by Frederick Bradnum, made by the BBC Radiophonic Workshop. He made his acting debut as Grobchick in “Simple Spymen” in 1958, with repertory theatre. His official debut was in the film “The Night We Dropped A Clanger” in 1959. Throughout the 1960s, he appeared in many British television series like “The Saint” in 1962, and “Randall and Hopkirk(Deceased)” in 1969.

His most known work is his role as Manuel, a Spanish waiter in the sitcom “ Fawlty Towers Written by John Cleese and Connie Booth, the show >> Read More... ”(1975 and 1979). He also narrated many BAFTA Award-winning radio and television documentaries, including BBC's “Troubleshooter” and ITC's “…From Hell”. He contributed his narration in several audio books like “The Narnia” series by C.S Lewis, “Corduroy Mansions” by Alexander McCall Smith and two audiobooks of the popular children's TV series “Thomas The Tank Engine And Friends” and many more.He also operated as the host of "Fawlty Towers Revisited" (2005) and "Fawlty Towers: Re-Opened" (2009), after the popularity of the original show spiked.

Besides this, he continued as a television and film actor. In 2012, Andrew was unfortunately diagnosed with vascular dementia and as a result, he retired from acting. He passed away on 23rd November 2016 at the age of 86.
