Carl Lumbly

Carl Winston Lumbly is a well-known American actor. He was born on August 14, 1951, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States. He passed high school at South High School, Minneapolis, and then went to Macalester College, St. Paul. After college, he started as a journalist in Minnesota. While handling an assignment about Dudley Rigg's Brave New Workshop Comedy Theatre, he got cast as an actor after attending a public audition. After he moved to San Francisco, he came across a newspaper advertisement seeking two black actors for a political play. He passed the audition for that play and was cast along with Danny Glover.

His television debut occurred in the early 1980s, in the series “Cagney & Lacey”(1982-88) as Detective Marcus Petrie. He also appeared in the movie ‘M.A.N.T.I.S” as Dr Miles Hawkins, signifying the first Black superhero on television. Additionally, he was also starred in many other telefilms like "Color Of Friendship”(2000), “Little Richard”(2000), “On Promised Land” (1994),” The Ditchdigger's Daughters”(1997), “Nightjohn” (1996) and “Sounder”(2003). Apart from this, he played guest-starring roles in many television series like “NCIS”(2003),"Criminal Minds"(2005), "Chuck"(2007-08), “Grey’s Anatomy”(2005), "Cold Case”, "Battlestar Galactica”(2004), "The West Wing”(1999), "ER"(1994-2009) and "The X-Files"(1993-2018).
