Peter William Krause is a TV and movie actor from the United States. Krause was born to two teachers in Alexandria, Minnesota. His mother was a second-grade teacher, while his father was an English teacher in high school. Michael and Amy are his two siblings. He grew up in Roseville, Minnesota, a St. Paul suburb. Krause earned a bachelor's degree in English literature from “Gustavus Adolphus College” in St. Peter, Minnesota, in 1987. He's also a graduate of "New York University's Tisch School of the Arts Graduate Acting Program" with a Master of Fine Arts in Acting.

Krause appeared on Seinfeld, Beverly Hills, 90210, and Ellen throughout the early 1990s. From 1990 to 1991, he was a part of Carol Burnett's sketch comedy series Carol & Company. Krause played Kevin, Cybill Shepherd's son-in-law, on the sitcom “Cybill” for four seasons, beginning in 1996. Krause starred as Casey McCall on the ABC network's sitcom “Sports Night” from 1998 to 2000. Despite critical acclaim, the show struggled to attract an audience. The series was canceled after completing two seasons. Krause appeared in the HBO drama series "Six Feet Under" from 2001 to 2005. Krause received seven nominations, including three Emmys, for his depiction of funeral director Nate Fisher.

Roman, Krause's son with his prior fiancée Christine King, was born in 2001.
