Amitabha graduated from Jawaharlal Nehru University, and got training in cinematography from the Film and Television Institute of India. He got his Bachelor’s degree from Delhi University, and Amitabha did his Masters from Banaras Hindu University in Mathematics. Later, he did a course in Japanese from JNU University. Amitabha started his career in 1994, as a full-fledged cinematographer in the Indian film industry. In 2008, Chillar Party released, it was based on the story of some rag pickers and their struggle with life. This movie turned out to be a path breaker movie for him and won in the Best Film Category in the National Awards. The Good Road, a Gujarati film produced by Amitabha for NFDC, has earned great acclamations and praises by the critics, and was screened at several international film festivals. It was India’s entry in The Foreign Language Film Category at the 86th Academy Awards, and The Good Road won the National Film Award in the Gujarati film category.

Amitabha introduced Super 16 in the professional stream as the ‘Think 16’ initiative. He performed various tests and provided cross- platform awareness about the Super 16 environment in the film industry. Singh laid out a platform for its layout and made several challenges that professional visual standards needed, and made them available to Advertising Films, Feature Films, Student Films and Short Films.
