Chris Columbus

Chris Columbus, is an American film worker, writer, producer, and director. He has written the script for movies like The Goonies and Gremlins. He is known for directing movies like Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, Home Alone, and Mrs. Doubtfire. He was born in Pennsylvania and was brought up in Ohio. His parents were Alex Michael Columbus who worked as an aluminum plant worker, his mother; Mary Irene worked in the factory. He did his schooling from John F. Kennedy High School, which is in Ohio. He did his graduation from Tisch School of the Arts, from New York University and received a degree in filmmaking. His schoolmates in the academy were well-known writer/director Alec Baldwin and Charlie Kaufman. He started working as a screenwriter in Amblin Entertainment by Steven Spielberg for the movie Gremlins in 1984. His other movies with them include Young Sherlock Holmes and The Goonies both in 1985. The first episode of Galaxy High in 1986 was written by him. He made his directorial debut with Adventures in Babysitting in 1987 followed by Heartbreak Hotel in 1988. His other work as a director includes Home Alone, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, Nine Months, Only the Lonely, Stepmom and much more. He is best known as a director for the series of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. The movie was distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. The movie was based on the novel by J. K. Rowling. This was the first part of the Harry Potter series.

The second series of the movie was also directed by him. The second part was named as Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in 2002. The movie was the continuation of Harry's second year at Hogwarts. Both the series were very much appreciated critically as well by the audience. He is the co-founder of the ZAG Animation Studios along with Saban Capital Group. He even founded the ZAG Entertainment. He is currently working on the book series House of Secrets along with Ned Vizzini. He got married to Monica Devereux in 1983. The couple has four children Violet, Isabella, Eleanor, and Brendan. His children attend Saint Ignatius College Preparatory. He has received the British Comedy Award for the category of for Best Comedy Film for the movie Home Alone.
