Hamish Hamilton

Hamish Hamilton was born on 8th April 1966 in Blackpool as Mark Hamilton. He is a British director and has directed some live shows in the world. He has also directed many award programs like the MTV Video Music Awards and the Academy Awards. A switch in his career came after he got bored of the accountancy lectures at his university. He started devoting most of his time at his college radio station. He began his career at BBC Scotland. There he was trained as a director and a producer. He directed the popular BBC travel series called Rough Guide to the World. Hamilton is a partner in Done + Dusted, which is a globally televised production house. He directed the 82nd Annual Academy Awards in 2010. Hamilton has also supervised entertainment programs at BBC Manchester such as The Sunday Show.

In 2012 London Olympics, he directed the televising of the closing and opening ceremonies. Hamilton did the same for Paralympics Games as well. He has worked very closely with the U2 music band. Hamilton has also supervised the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show which was held in Paris. It has achieved around 1 billion press recognition which set a brand new record for the band.

Hamish has supervised the 2nd Annual Kids Choice Sports Awards which was hosted by Russell Wilson. He directed the Stand Up to Cancer special as well as the opening Gala of the Disneyland Shanghai. In 2001, he also directed a video concert showcasing Madonna's Drowned World Tour. At the British Academy Television Craft Awards held on 28 April 2013, he was the recipient of the BAFTA Special Award. Hamilton won the BAFTA for the second time for Multi-Camera Directing at the London Olympic Opening Ceremonies. Hamilton was also nominated for the precious Emmy award. Lately, Hamilton has been creating and supervising David Bowie Is, which is a film for The Victoria & Albert Museum in London. It received great reviews and was premiered in theaters around the world.
