The Sundance film festival praised his work by calling him the most talented and skilled documentary filmmakers of all time while a popular journalist stated that he has both, the fearlessness of a powerful director and also an empathetic sensitivity to his work.
Matthew Heineman's last documentary was called 'City Of Ghosts'. It was about the young citizen journalists and the horrors of ISIS. The documentary was featured in Sundance Film Festival in 2017.
