Diplo, whose birth name is Thomas Wesley Pentz, is an American citizen and a singer, disk jockey, music producer, and songwriter. He took birth on November 10, 1978, in Tupelo, Mississippi, United States of America. His parent's names are Thomas Pentz and Barbara Jean. He is a student of the University of Central Florida and Temple University. While studying there, he started to do small gigs as a DJ. Though he has created music of diverse types, his favorite genre is favela funk. Before achieving success, he worked as a teacher in a local school in Philadelphia. He spent his childhood in the lanes of Miami, which influenced his him a lot. He met Low Budget, and they both started to work together. They became very successful. Their success prompted them to release several mixtapes.

Their names are Never Scared, Florida, and Diplo: Banned in Libya. He also established a music studio named The Mausoleum. Several international artists Shakira, Spank Rock, Glass Candy, Christina Aguilera, M.I.A, Skream, Paper Route Gangstaz, Nicos Gun, Blaqstarr, and several others have either recorded or performed their songs here. He also worked with M.I.A several times and created tracks like Piracy Funds Terrorism Vol. 1. In fact, it was M.I.A. who groomed and guided him to success. However, their partnership turned into a fight and M.I.A. accused him of being jealous of her fame, and trying to hoof the limelight from her. He is the member of Major Lazer, a group which specializes in creating songs of Dancehall.

Some of his other works include Paper Planes, Be Right There, Blame, Lazers Never Die, Free the Universe, Peace Is the Mission, Chilly Water, Music is the Weapon, and much more. In Bollywood, he sang Phurrr in recently released Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma starrer Jab Harry Met Sejal. The jury of the Grammy Awards has nominated him eight times out of which he has won two. His wife's name is Kathryn Lockhart. The couple has two children named Laser and Lockett. He is a huge soccer and cricket buff and has attended two matches of Tigers UANL. He is an ardent fan of a football club named Arsenal. He is also the co-owner of Phoenix Rising FC, a team playing in the United Soccer League. He has also created a track for 2014 World Cup. He lends support to various budding artists and has established a non-profit organization called Heaps Decent.
