Manu Toigo

Manu Toigo is an Australian survivalist. She has appeared on the Discovery Channel's "Naked and Afraid" and "Curiosity" shows. Manu grew up on her parents' farm in Queensland, Australia. When she was just 17, she joined the Australian Army's "Infantry Reserve Unit." She served for eight years before being injured. Manu shifted to Seattle in 1998 to complete her higher education. She appeared on the Discovery Channel show "Curiosity" in the episode "I, Caveman," which aired on October 2, 2011.

She interacted with various deadly animals while growing up on a farm, including several of the world's top ten deadliest snakes, kangaroos, poisonous spiders, wild boars, wild dingoes, and saltwater crocodiles. Manu grew up in a harsh environment and learned to adapt and improvise. She not only exposed herself to the hazards of farming but also to a boiling and humid atmosphere. Growing up on a farm, she forced herself to interact with a variety of deadly animals, including several of the world's top ten deadliest snakes, wild dingoes, poisonous spiders, kangaroos, wild boars, and saltwater crocodiles. Manu had to adapt and improvise from a young age to the harsh situation she found herself in. Manu was not only exposed to the hazards of farming, but also to an extremely hot and humid atmosphere. While growing up, she learned to hydrate herself by drinking sugar cane and coconut juice.

Manu shifted to Seattle for school in 1998 but struggled to find housing and work beyond dishwashing in various restaurants. At the end of her shift, she managed a hot supper and a drink. She made enough money to join a gym. Through her determination and efforts, Manu overcame the desert, jungle, and urban areas. She is a Los Angeles-based actress.

Manu was featured in a special double episode named "Double Jeopardy" in the second season of Discovery Channel's "Naked and Afraid" in 2013. The Panama Jungle is the central theme of the show. On 10th December 2013, the episode premiered to 2.4 million viewers. Manu completed the 21-day challenge but was hospitalized three days after contracting dengue fever from a mosquito bite. She arrived at the hospital barely in time. She would have died if she had come any later. Manu stayed in the hospital for two weeks and received physical treatment for several months. Her "Primitive Survival Rating (PSR)" was marked at 8.0 at last.

Manu returned to the "Naked Afraid" series in 2019, starring in a group with Rylie Parlett and Christina McQueen. The show featured a 40-day survival challenge in Palawan, Philippines called "Naked and Afraid XL." In a group, Rylie Parlett, Christina McQueen, and Manu are partners. Due to her brother's jaw cancer treatments, she had to leave on the seventh day.

In 2016, Manu appeared on the National Geographic episode "Migrations." The crew of "National Geographic" contacted her through Twitter and invited her to join the team. Manu enjoyed her time on the show, but the enormous production of the series restricted her wilderness experience.

Manu currently manages "Camp Manu," a rural camp in California that focuses on environmental education for children. She is also the founder of the "Walk-About Group," which offers survival tips and teaches people about environmental conservation. "Women Owned" and "Leave No Trace" collaborated with the organization. Manu and "Two Roads Plastic Project" released a song called "Plastic Solution" on 9^th November 2019. Efforts to combat plastic pollution received 100% of the song's proceeds.
