John Heard, born on March 7, 1945, in Washington, USA, is the son of John Matthew and Helen Heard. He had two sisters and one brother. He went to Gonzaga College High School and later got admission in the Catholic University of America. After finishing his studies, in 1970, he started acting in stage plays and TV series. He gradually improved his performance in the field and soon became a famous person in the industry. Offers from movies and series were lining up for him. In 1979, he acted in two movies Othello and Split and won Obie awards for his performances.

In the same year, he acted in Head Over Heels a.k.a Chilly Scenes of Winter. In 1981, he starred in Cutter’s Way. Every year he had atleast two films. In 1992, he had roles in several blockbuster hits like Gladiator, Home Alone 2, Waterland. Simultaneously he also engaged himself in Television series.
