Joshua Leonard

Joshua Leonard is a director, writer, and actor from the United States of America. He is best known for starring in the 1999 horror film The Blair Witch Project. Since the success of that movie he has gone on to have a successful film career starring in movies like The Shaggy Dog, The Town That Dreaded Sundown and more recently in 6 Years.. He was born in Houston, Texas to a mother who was a writer and a father who taught theater at Pennsylvania State University.

Although he was born in Houston he spent most of the childhood in State College, Pennsylvania. Before films, he had a keen interest in photography that came about after he spent some time in London during his teenage years. The critical and commercial success of the film saw him get nominated for a Blockbuster Entertainment Award and also kicked off his Hollywood career. He has further gone on to work in a handful of films that have been well-received by critics including Men of Honor, Things Behind the Sun and a television film, Live From Baghdad. Another movie that saw him receive positive reviews was The Lie, a movie in which he not only acted in but also directed in whilst further playing a role in writing the script of the film.

He also played an important role in Humpday, a movie that won an Independent Spirit Award. Leonard was also awarded Best Actor at the Gijon International Film Festival for his acting in this film.
