Fann Wong was born as Fann Woon Fong in Singapore. She had an elder sister, a younger brother and a younger sister, all born to parents who were tailors. She studied at Temasek Secondary School and cleared her ‘O’ level GCE exams in 1987. She later took ‘A’ level examination while being a part-time model. She started acting as a child in various kids’ programmes by SBC. She gained a beauty contest at age 16. The competition was organised by a Singapore-based fashion magazine called Her World. She began her modelling career successfully in Singapore. After taking her ‘A’ level GCA exams, she got a diploma from LIFS in fashion merchandising. She got mainstream success and recognition after she relocated to Taiwan in 1993. She did a commercial of Oil of Ulan in Singapore and Taiwan. The success of the commercial led her to come into notice of a TV producer who put her in the cast of a Singaporean drama TV series called Dreams Come True in 1994.

She got substantial roles in two more series called Chronicle of Life (1995) and The Challenger. She gained the Best Actress award for the formerly mentioned series. She also won the Best Newcomer award at Star Awards in 1995. She went on to become known at the Asiatic level when, in 1996, she got a part in The Unbroken Cycle which led her to win a nomination at Asian Television Awards. She travelled to famous places all over the world as her roles became a part of a wide variety of shows like Wild Orchids, Brave New World, etc. She began to get involved in the music industry when in 1996 she released an album called Fanntasy which had a Mandarin pop genre. It was later re-released as I Live Alone with the addition of two new songs. It won four platinum sales awards which denoted the beginning of her success in music. She became more regionally known when she was cast as the lead in the famous drama The Return of the Condor Heroes.

The release of the show was perfectly timed with the release of her second album called Shopping. It made her well-known and loved in Taiwan and China. Her second album had such an impact on her career that a director based in Hong Kong flew to Singapore to cast her in his film The Truth About Jane and Sam as the lead. The film was successful and remained at the top on the charts for three weeks. In 2000, it also helped her get a nomination at the Hong Kong Film Awards. Her presence in Out to Win led to a million views during the finale in Singapore. It was during this period that her fans began calling themselves the FFC (Fann-atic Fan Club). She released her third album called Missing You in 1999 which led her to become the first artist in Singapore to have a solo concert.

After many back-to-back musical successes, she re-focussed on her acting career and got a role in a Singaporean film When I Fall in Love... With Both as a reporter. Later, she was a part of the drama series Looking for Stars in which she was an insurance agent and then in the Taiwanese drama Madam White Snake as the title character. She also travelled to South Africa and Malaysia for travel-based shows like Travel Hunt: Japan and Fann Adventure. In 2002, she got a major role in a Hollywood production called Shanghai Knights which meant that she became the first Singapore-based actress to get such a substantial part in Hollywood.

She gained positive acclaim after the film’s release in 2003. She did many more shows in Chinese, Singaporean, German shows and telemovies. In 2004, she acted in Moon Fairy as well as My Fair Lady, which are Chinese dramas. She then acted in Always on My Mind, a Singaporean show, which led her to win a Star Award in 2004. She had the lead role in a TV movie called House of Harmony. She was invited to the Cannes MIPTV Media Market. She used the opportunity to promote her TV movie and discussed various possibilities of collaborations with the European industry. In 2004, she released a half-autobiography half-comic book called Girl Illustrated. After a pause of five years, she released her fifth album called In Love With You.

In 2005, she had another lead role in an art-house movie called Dragon Eye Congee which helped her bag five nominations at the Asian Festival of First Films. She lent her voice in the animated movie called Zodiac, The Race Begins. She was also on the music team in the movie. In 2007, she collaborated with Huayi Brothers and signed a deal with them to focus on the Chinese market. She was the first one to release a 3-D animation called Fanntasy World. This was followed by the release of Just Follow Law, a Singaporean film, which made her skyrocket to stardom in China, Singapore and Malaysia. She was asked to become a judge at an international film festival in 2008. Her role in the movie called Dance of Dragon led her to win an international award for her acting at the West Hollywood International Film Festival.

This was followed by the her roles in the movies Tangle, Cornflower Blue, Happy Go Lucky Star One is one channel that has always understood >> Read More... , the drama Jin DaBan De Zuihou Yiye and two more dramas in 2011. 2012 saw a lot of Wong as she was seen in the series called The Legend of Master Ji 3, as a judge on the fashion competition called Asian Ace, in the film Ai Shui Shui, a TV movie Han di hu lue zhu gui and the film called Runaway Woman.

She was honoured with the Huading Most Popular Asian Actress Award in 2012 at the Beijing Olympic Sports Center. She launched her own studio on 2013 after ending her contract with the Chinese brothers. She signed a new contract with Catwalk, a Taiwan-based management agency. Wong was involved with a businessman named Anthony Chan but her relationship with him ended after seeing each other for eleven years. She has been involved with Christopher Lee since 2002, although the couple admitted their relationship three years later. They got married in 2009, after being together for eight years. The ceremony was featured on TV on the show called The Wedding. She gave birth to a boy named Zed in 2014.
