Joan Shawlee

Joan Shawlee was born on March 5, 1926. On her age of 14, she started her career as a model working for ‘Powers Model’. In the course of time, Joan was spotted by 20th Century Fox that signed her to a contract for her Hollywood phase of time. When they found she was a minor being 16 years old, she cannot start yet. Instead, they asked her to take some acting lessons. Rejecting those options, she went back to New York to live with her mother. After a gap she was found singing in a Copacabana at South of Rio; she was asked to sign a contract with ‘Universal Studio.’

As Joan Fulton, she did her first leading role in  ‘Buck Privates Come Home’ at 1947. Then, she started stacking movies as she succeeded. 1950’s were her most remarkable period, in ‘ Some Like It Hot’ she acted as a zany and funny person named as ‘Sweet Sue’. Joan was married to a Businessman named ‘Walter Shawlee’ and so changed her surname as ‘Shawlee’. She also took an active part in Television Series. Her first series was ‘The Adventures of Aggie’ whee she performed the title role ‘Aggie’ in 1956, it was a British-based story, and she signed for an England concern BBC. It is telecast for several years. ABC Studio also signed her a contract to perform in ‘The Feather and Father Gang’  series in 1977. Followed by, ‘The Dick Van Dyke Show’  she played as ‘Pickles’ in the year 1960, after that she appeared on the TV shows. Miss. Shawlee then was diagnosed with cancer, and she passed away on 22 March 1987, at California, Hollywood.
