Jurnee Diana Smollett-Bell is an American film actress. She was born in New York City of the United States of America. Her father is a Jewish, and her mother is an African-American. She has four brothers named Jocqui, JoJo, Jake and Jussie and one sister named Jazz. Her career began in childhood when she was cast as a child actress in television sitcoms. In the age of 11 years i.e. in the year 1997, she received Critic’s Choice Award for the role enacted she played in the film Eve’s Bayou, which was written and directed by Kasi Lemmons.
On being an adult, she became the part of movies like The Great Debaters and Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor. Talking about her personal life, she got is with active HIV/AIDS causes from the age of 11 and still continues to be a part of it. She spoke at the Ryan White Youth Conference. She is a part of an organization that is dedicated to HIV/AIDS. She is on the list of the board of directors of Artists for an NEW South Africa and also a part of the board of directors of Children’s Defense Fund. She tied the knot with Josiah Bell on October 24 of the year 2010 and recently announced the news of having her first child with him soon. She has won three NAACP Image Awards which were are honored by the American National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
