Sharni Vinson is an Australian citizen who has served as a model, actress, and dancer. She was born on 22 July 1983. Sharni is known for her roles in Bait 3D, You're Next, Home and Away, and Step Up 3D.

She was born in Sydney and was raised in the southern beach of Cronulla. During her teenage, she was a national level swimmer, with four state records to her credit. Vinson began dancing, singing and acting at a very young age. She was the third generation in her family which was full of performers. In 1945, her grandmother Ballerina was the youngest to be offered a scholarship from the Brovansky Ballet Company, which is in England. When she was twelve years old, she enrolled at the Brent Street School of Performing Arts in Sydney as a student.

Vinson's first step to the industry was as a musician, after which she shifted to acting. When she was seventeen, along with three other girls she formed a grouped together as Pop/R&B girl group, named Foxfire IV. The first song of the group was Roses, which did not make a mark to the audience and soon the group was disbanded.

After a short-lived work with Foxfire IV, she made her acting debut representing various minor characters, episodes of the Australian series like Home and Away in 2001 and 2003. She had left a mark on the audience with her performance in Home and Away with her regular role in the series. She had even auditioned for the role of Martha MacKenzie but was not selected. Later, she got the role of Cassie Turner, a confused teenager who is being taken to a rehab center after various misbehaviors with the police. She even received a nomination as the Most Popular New Female Talent at the Logie Awards in 2006 for portraying the character of Cassie Turner. In 2007, there was buzz that she was about to leave the series in order to pursue an acting career in Los Angeles. The same year, she confirmed that she is leaving the series. Her final episode on the show was on 2 April 2008.

The following year, she made her first appearance in the American television sitcom “My Boys”. ', and in NCIS. Her last television role was as a guest appearance for the final season of Cold Case aired on CBS Crime in 2010. Vinson also performed with Matchbox Twenty in “Put Your Hands Up”.

In 2009, Vinson featured as Natalie, as the female lead in Step Up 3D, which was the third installment of the Step Up movie series. Her appearance in the movie was very well appreciated, giving her great recognition to the American audience. The shooting was done in the New York City. Even after receiving a mixed review from the critics, the movie was a box office hit making a collection of over $159 million worldwide and was considered as the highest-earning among all the three movies.

Vinson came back to Australia to start for her first role in an Australian movie in the horror film Bait 3D as Tina, by Paramount Pictures. She played the role of the lead’s ex-girlfriend. She again got an opportunity to work with Home and Away cast member ‘Lincoln Lewis’. The shooting of the movie was done in Brisbane with a budget of $20 million. This flick was released in September 2012, and received mixed reviews and failed to make a mark at the theaters.

After Bait 3D, she appeared in another horror movie “You're Next”. Her role in the movie is the most appreciated character done by her in the whole span of her career. The movie was premiered at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival.

In 2014, Vinson appeared in the movie Patrick, which was a remake of the 1978 movie of the same name.
